Trip to Ein Carem – Jerusalem

Couple of weeks ago I had a one-day walk around trip at Ein Carem, Jerusalem. The trip was with my colleagues and was arranged by my workplace. With me I took the D300, 50mm 1.4 and the 18-200mm VR. Ein Carem is a great place to walk around, enjoy the mystic atmosphere, eat some good food and enjoy the remarkable clean air of Jerusalem (at least compared to Tel-Aviv :) ). Here are some photos from that day:

Exploring new worlds

I have never taken too much interest in macro photography. However, every time I do find my self photographing macro I am amazed of all the new photographic possibilities the world of macro photography has to offer – especially if you want to increase the amount of potential photographic opportunities just outside your house. A simple bush, wall or tree can hold such a vast number of interesting things to photograph, all you need is to look for them.

My wife, Miri, who is writing a very successful food blog (www.room-4-dessert.com) needed a macro lens for her food photography so I got her for her birthday the new Sigma 70mm Macro. Its a very sharp macro lens that is capable of 1:1 reproduction ratio.

Last week I took the Sigma lens to shoot a tree that I enchountered while I was shooting my previous post (Some shallow depth of field with my 50mm). It is a very intresting tree with strange spikes on it -

Tree

Here are a few macro pictures I took of this tree. All are HDR images taken with the D300 and the Sigma 70mm.
