Hello World and the Riders Experience

Hello world! this is my first post and hopefully not the last :) if you don’t know me, check out the About Page to learn a little about me. I have a an Hebrew website for a few years now but its been a long while since i last updated it. I realized that since photography is no longer my profession, a blog format will be much more suitable for me to share my pictures and my experience in the world of photography. I will mostly post pictures i took at various occasions but if there is something you would like to know about my photography or photography in general, please ask and ill try to write about it.

OK, enough with the introduction. As you know (?), i work as a Software Engineer for a company called NICE Systems. Last week i was requested to take some photos in an event dedicated to NICE employees’ kids. The event took place in the north of Israel at a place called “Riders Experience” at Bet-Oren. For the event I packed my Nikon D300, SB-800, Sigma 10-20mm, Nikkor 70-200mm VR and 18-200mm VR.

The Nikkor 18-200mm VR was 70% of the time on my camera, the other 29% was the Nikkor 70-200 VR. The 18-200 versatility is unbeatable. For example you can take the following shot:

Nikkor 18-200 VR – set to 170mm

And a split second after, take the following two shots:

Nikkor 18-200 VR – set to 18mm

Nikkor 18-200 VR – set to 18mm

most importantly, you will rarely miss a picture because the focal length is just not right… you have all you need packed in a medium sized lens. The picture quality with the D300 is also excellent. Anyway, the event was organized in such a way that there were few activities in parallel and groups of kids moved from an activity to an activity. For me it was harder to shot since i needed to move a lot but it was fun. In the event there was some horseback riding…

some TomCar activites…

some singing and drumming…

some painting and just playing around…

basically it was a great fun :)
